i know most people have seen it but i cant emphasize how much this is literally my favorite breath of the wild clip of all time. also i can never fucking find this clip when i need it especially in high definition so here it is
Video description: 29 seconds of gameplay from Breath of the Wild. Text is in Japanese. Ambient audio of birds plays throughout.
Link stands next to a metallic boulder that has been placed right next to a cowering Traveler NPC. Link equips a Savage Lynel Crusher, activates Stasis on the boulder to hold it in place and hits it many times with the Crusher until its trajectory arrow turns red, then shoots a single arrow at it to direct it at the Traveler.
An audio cue of high-pitch, rhythmic beeping speeds up, indicating that Stasis is about to release, and then Link speaks to the Traveler, pausing time during the dialogue. After several lines of dialogue and audio of scared whimpering, the Traveler abruptly stops cowering, transforms into a Yiga Footsoldier, and threateningly flourishes a Demon Carver, which is a circular, spiked metal blade on a short handle.
As soon as the flourish is done, time un-pauses and Stasis releases with a ding, causing the boulder to smash through the Yiga Footsoldier, knocking their weapon flying into the air and driving their body off-screen, killing them instantly. The camera pans to show their body disintegrating several meters away as their weapon clatters to the ground in front of Link with a gentle clinking sound. End VD.
I’m really baffled by the “Touya is manipulating Toga” takes I’m seeing here. Like… honestly, come on, people. Of all the characters in MHA–every single one, hero and villain–Toga is the character whose insight into others I trust the most.
She saw right through Ochaco (she likes Deku & idolizes him):
Right through Deku (he likes hurting himself):
Right through Twice (he was blaming himself for Magne’s death)
Right through Twice again to give him what he needed in his last moments:
right through Shigaraki:
It’s kinda a pattern. Why would she be wrong about Touya? I’m sorry, but that makes no sense.
It’s almost as if AFO’s speech to Dabi actually sparked (heh) some character development and questioning about whom he actually wants to be, which we’re being shown, not told, which is good writing. And also, it’s is exactly what that speech was designed to do.
Also can people not see the very blatant parallel wherein Toga is telling Touya–that he’s a kind person–exactly what Deku told Shouto?
